April Fools 2012: Creeps

If you're a gamer, you probably won't even notice that today is April Fools' Day. You, after all, have games to play: Perhaps some Mass Effect 3 to complain about or some Diablo 3 (beta) to run through for your 342nd time.

Just so you're not distracted from your many Sunday quests, we've created a roundup of some of the funnier gaming-related April Fools' Day jokes to hit the Web. And if you've been gaming so hard that you don't even realize it's Monday (or later), consider this your historical archive for all the hilarity you missed during your big weekend binge.

Blizzard

Surely one of the first sites that eager April Fools gamers are used to checking the morning of the big day, Blizzard's track record for funny (at least, for those familiar with the Blizzard universe of games) is pretty reliable. This year? First up, Blizzard Kidzz: The company's new "educational games" platform that seeks to educate your younglings with fun games like, "Zergling Teaches Typing," among others.

But that's not all. Blizzard's also debuted the Starcraft: Supply Depot title for iOS and Android ("Multiple endings, each influenced by your choices and color-coded for your convenience!"), the "Fledgling Heroes" series of Blizzard novels for children, and the brand-new "Zergotchi Authenticator" – one-part security mechanism, one-part loveable digital pet.

Razer

The popular makers of gaming hardware unveiled the Razer SnakeEyes system, "The world's first true fully-realized circumcranial augmented-reality gamification H.U.D." In other words, it's a big-ol' pair of digital glasses that you supposedly wear to receive additional, Terminator-style information about your surroundings.

Minecraft / Thinkgeek

Thinkgeek's "Minecraft Marshmallow Creeps" would actually be a pretty awesome delicacy to own, even though $5 for a box of four peeps, er, creeps seems a bit much. Watch out for that explosive sugary flavor.

Sega

"Bass Fishing of the Dead" is about all we have to say for that one. Sign us up!

Assassin's Creed: Kinect

And here you thought bringing an assassin into the Revolutionary War was enough of a joke. Nope: Now you can play Assassin's Creed by wiggling your body (and making stabby motions) in front of your Kinect as well.
