In the main event of WrestleMania 28, John Cena and the Rock were ready to end their rivalry with the most-hyped match in the history of the event. While most of the WWE Universe stands directly behind Rock, as always, Cena is loved and hated equally by the crowd.
The first 10 minutes of the match went back and forth with both men taking things slowly. Cena worked on Rock's back, even locking in bear hugs that make the fans cringe. After being beaten down for minutes, Rock finally got a chance to get on the offense, nailing a spine buster. He then went for the People's Elbow, but Cena countered and attempted an AA, which was also countered. Eventually Cena landed the Five-Knuckle Shuffle.
After a brief exchange on the feet, Cena connected with the Attitude Adjustment, but Rock kicked out at two. Not long after, Rock connected with the Rock Bottom, but he was also unable to get the pin fall. The match began to move with a much faster pace after Cena landed a leg drop off the top rope. Rock recovered and locked on the Sharp Shooter, but Cena worked his way to the ropes for the break. After the break, Rock again locked in the Sharp Shooter, putting more pressure on Cena's back, but he again reached the ropes.
With Cena on the apron, Rock attacked and began to impose his will. He sent Cena directly into the ring steps before placing Cena on the apron. As Rock made his move into the ring, Cena spring-boarded over Rock and hooked in the STF. Rock began crawling towards the ropes, but Cena re-adjusted and pulled him towards the center of the ring. Cena kept the move locked and the Rock seemed to fade. The referee began to lift and drop Rock's arm and within an inch of having his hand touch the mat, the Rock woke up.
After hitting another spine buster, Rock went for the People's Elbow again and this time he connected. He went for the pin, but Cena kicked out. Once back to their feet, Cena went for a small package, but Rock kicked out. Cena then spring-boarded over Rock into the turnbuckle and attempted a roll-up, but Rock again kicked out. Cena then put Rock on the top rope, but the Great One fought back and pushed Cena off.
Rock attempted a cross-body block, but Cena caught him and turned it into an AA. Rock kicked out, again. Cena then attempted to do his own People's Elbow, but Rock bounced up, hit the Rock Bottom and got the pin.
Match Rating: 7.5 out of 10
It wasn't a great match. It was a bit boring in the first 10 minutes and while the finish was nice, it does nothing for "business" having the Rock get the win.
