The Prairie Open was a PDGA sanctioned B-tier event that took place in Kenosha, Wisconsin at the the University of Wisconsin Campus Parkside Disc Golf Course with all of the pro and advanced divisions playing on Saturday, March 31. On Sunday, the intermediate, recreational and junior divisions will compete.

With 105 disc golfers on the course on Saturday, it was Scotty Burtard of Sheboygan, Wisconsin who emerged the winner of the men's open division with a final score of 15-under par. Burtard was the winner of January's Snow Blown Open and he captured numerous victories in 2011, including the Chaining in the New Year and the Wisconsin Tour Finale.
Following in second place was Jeremy Koling who came to the event all the way from Charlotte, North Carolina. He finished at three strokes behind Burtard, scoring 12-under par. Koling has already had two victories this year, including the Fox Chase Ice Bowl and the Sanford Slingers Temp Course Chucker. He's also the 2011 Yetter Champ and was named the 2009 PDGA Rookie of the Year in addition to a number of other achievements.
At third place was Chris Heeren of Janesville, Wisconsin who came in with a final score of 10-under par. Heeren is yet another outstanding Wisconsin disc golf pro with quite a few victories to his name last year, including the Silver Creek Open II and the Summer Smackdown. Following in a tie for fourth place was Corey James of Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Allen Hermosillo of Blue Island, Illinois, both scoring 8-under par.
Liz Carr of Muskegon, Michigan captured the win for the women in the open division with a final score of 7-over par. She was the winner of the Michigan State Finals and the Greater Milwaukee Open in addition to several other events last year. Following Carr in second place was Barrett White of Forest Park, Illinois scoring 9-over par, and at third place was Jayne Snider of Lansing, Michigan with a final score of 20-over par.
The masters division victory went to Rod Fritz of Sterling, Illinois who dominated the division with a final score of 10-under par. Don Barrette finished in second place scoring 1-under par. Rob Mertens of Neenah, Wisconsin scored 2-under par to win the grandmasters division, while the advanced division culminated in a four-way tie between Robert Martin, Andrew Schultz, Brad Weber and Patrick Knorr, all scoring 3-under par.
Ashley Gilbert won the advanced division for the women with a final score of 23-over par, while Shawn Fallon of Franksville, Wisconsin scored 9-over par to win the advanced masters division and Randy Jacobson of Sun Prairie, Wisconsin won the advanced grandmasters division with a final score of 4-over par.
