The Sacramento Kings lost a physical basketball game to the Los Angeles Clippers on April 7. Sacrament hung tough throughout most of it and eventually was too shorthanded to stay with the Clippers. The big subplot to the game was the pending feud between the two star big men, DeMarcus Cousins and Blake Griffin.

Following Sacramento's loss on April 5, Cousins was fined $25,000 for his comments about Griffin after the game. At the time, I felt like Cousins' comments were unwarranted and that he should be the last person calling anyone a prima donna. I've often been critical about DeMarcus' play this season and said that he needs to grow up and find ways to not impact the team by getting so many fouls and technical fouls. For these reasons, it intrigued me to see what would happen in the rematch between Cousins and Griffin.

It was obvious early on that the game was going to be very physical and that the big men would test each other throughout. I was proud of DeMarcus that he was able to keep his composure and play well throughout the game. This is something that should have fans proud and possibly encouraged in the development of DeMarcus Cousins. He rebounded from a foul plagued eight point, three rebound performance to put up 15 points and 20 rebounds in the second game. It was not Cousins, but Griffin and fellow Clipper big man DeAndre Jordan who were whistled for technical fouls in the game.

I think fans should continue to be encouraged by the development of DeMarcus Cousins. From the opening tip off, his behavior was under very good control. Prior to the tip, DeMarcus extended his hand to Blake, and then played in control and with good behavior throughout. If this is a trend of things to come, Sacramento fans have to be excited. Cousins has the potential to be one of the most dominant players in the game if he continues developing as a player.
