David McNally has confirmed that Norwich City will do everything in their power to hold onto manager Paul Lambert. There seems to be some speculation that Lambert will move on due to the transfer merry-go-round involving the England coaching job.

I can only imagine that the suggestion is Harry Redknapp will take the England job, and Paul Lambert will become the new Tottenham Hotspur manager. However, the Scot should consider his options extremely carefully.
Every Norwich fan knows how good Lambert is, but it might not be quite as straightforward as that. The former Celtic player has excelled in Norfolk. However, it may not be the same in North London. Perhaps Norwich City is made for Paul Lambert, as much as Lambert is made for Norwich.
As football supporters, we know that certain players and managers excel at certain clubs. It remains a mystery as to why this happens. However, the Canaries boss is creating something remarkably special at Carrow Road, and I would like to think that he would want to see where that goes.
Unless there is a major catastrophe, Lambert can be sure of Premier League football next season. Therefore, you would think that he would want to stay put for, at least, another 12 months.
I would like to think that there is considerable progress to be made in Norfolk over the coming seasons. If Norwich City can sustain Premier League football, then the stadium could be expanded in the next two seasons. Lambert will also want to see how some of his young players will develop in the years to come.
Next season that process will continue as the Scot must decide if it is time to make his first steps into the foreign transfer market. If Norwich City continue to progress in the coming seasons as they have this season, then there will not be many Premier League clubs that will be considered bigger.
This is something that Lambert should consider; he has the opportunity here to take a club from League One obscurity to one the biggest forces in English football. I am no football manager, but I would imagine that would be hugely satisfying.
I am sure the average fan would love to bring back those big European nights to Carrow Road; with Lambert in charge that is a realistic possibility.
The reality for the Scottish manager is if he jumps ship and joins a big Premier League club; he could be out of a job in less than a year—if he makes a slow start. If that were to happen, would Norwich City want him back?
The Canaries and Paul Lambert is a match that seems to work, while that remains the case we do not want anything changing. I would hope that the Scot feels there is considerable unfinished business at Carrow Road before moving on.
