The Wizards will play the last of three games in three nights against the New Jersey Nets. But more important, they will play their last game ever at Prudential Center, with the Nets moving to Brooklyn next season.
The two teams split the first two games in the arena. The Nets defeated the Wizards last season in Gilbert Arenas's final game with the team before he was traded to Orlando. Nene played his first game for the Wizards two weeks ago and led the team to a 108-89 victory.
Nene will not be available for the rematch. He and Trevor Booker are both out for the fifth consecutive game with plantar fasciitis. The Wizards have lost four in a row, and while they won't have the emotional spark of a player making his debut, Coach Randy Wittman said the team shouldn't have to search for motivation.
"It's a game. It's a game on your schedule. You're not relying on anything night in and night out. This is a situation where we have to go out compete. Last time we were in this building we won, and that's got to be a good feeling for our guys and that's a belief we have to have."
Deron Williams and Nets Coach Avery Johnson were both ejected in the last game. "I wouldn't mind if they wanted to do that again. I wouldn't file a protest," Wittman said with a laugh.
