The Smithsonian American Art Museum, which houses such masters as Georgia O'Keeffe and John Singer Sargent, debuts a new exhibit, The Art of Video Games Friday. Following a six-month stay at the Washington museum, the show heads out on a national tour. USA TODAY's Mike Snider offers a peek a the exhibit:
'BioShock' (2007, 2K Games/Take-Two Interactive, Microsoft Xbox 360) A first-person shooter with a brain, 'BioShock' took players to an alternate dystopian universe where the literary predictions of Ayn Rand and George Orwell prevailed. The game "is a prominent example of the complexity that can be captured in video-game narratives," say co-authors Chris Melissinos and Patrick O'Rourke in 'The Art of Video Games — From Pac-Man to Mass Effect 2 (Welcome Books, $40).'
